Imagine your morning bowl of porridge could not only satisfy your stomach, but also the stomach of a starving child living in one of the world’s poorest communities. This October 10th, it can.
For a porridge lover, World Porridge Day sounds like the best day in the world!! And it is … but for reasons that go way beyond giving us another reason to feast on our favourite food for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Porridge has the power to change lives, that’s why at 3Bears, we want to raise awareness and support the charity Mary’s Meals, with their mission to feed hungry children living in poverty. Read on to find out more and how you can get involved.
World Porridge Day is an international event organised to raise funds for Mary's Meals, a charity based in Argyll, Scotland that raises money to aid starving children in developing countries around the world. The main aim is to provide a daily meal in a place of learning, so that children can go to school without suffering from hunger and get an education that could be their ticket out of a life of poverty. Mary’s Meals feeds more than 1.6 million children in 19 countries around the world every school day.
Think of how great you feel after a bowl of porridge for breakfast - energised and focused. It’s also nutrient-rich, sustainable and simple to prepare. A bowl of porridge in the morning can provide these children with the energy they need to endure a long walk to school and feed their hunger so they can focus in class and get a better education.
That’s why, at 3Bears, we’re making it our mission to raise awareness of Mary’s Meals and support them in their mission by donating 10% of all 3Bears orders placed in our online shop on 10th of October. Order your porridge, satisfy your stomach and help provide a school meal to child in poverty.
