Our main responsibility lies in the manufacturing of our products - which for us clearly stands under the promise "Made in Germany". Our 3Bears Porridge mixes are mixed and bottled in the south of Germany, at Lake Constance. Wherever possible, our production partner works with German partners and importers when purchasing raw materials, and our main ingredient, oat flakes, comes from a traditional family-owned mill, the Rubinmühle in the Black Forest.
We would like to differentiate ourselves from the mass-produced goods from the supermarkets. At 3Bears the founders Caroline and Tim still develop all recipes and varieties in their own kitchen and it is their big dream to be able to travel to each of the countries of origin of our ingredients in the future. Find out everything about the founders here.
We all know: the use of plastic is very problematic for our environment. Unfortunately, there are few real alternatives so far, especially for the protection of our products, which are completely free of preservatives. We work closely with our partners and potential suppliers to find alternative packaging. We have not yet succeeded in finding packaging made of renewable raw materials with an ideal ecological balance and absolute food protection.
But we are not giving up and see our partnership with Plastic Bank as an important step: we are compensating for our current annual plastics consumption of almost 30 tonnes and are committed to reducing plastic waste in the world's oceans. Plastic Bank has set itself the goal of combating plastic waste in the world's oceans, so-called Ocean Bound Plastic, while at the same time improving the living conditions of the poorer population. To this end, several plastic collection centres have been set up in Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world, and in the Philippines, among others, where local people can hand in plastic waste collected on beaches or land and exchange it for money, goods or services.
There is much to be said about environmental protection and sustainability. But while some companies stop at empty promises, others take clear steps. In 2002, for example, a handful of environmentally conscious companies and environmental protection organisations founded „1% for the planet“
The goal: cooperation in the sense of sustainability and the preservation of our environment. This clarity and drive inspired us to become a part of the movement and make our contribution. So what does 1% for the planet mean?
Every member, including 3Bears since 1 January 2020, is committed to donating at least one percent of their own gross annual turnover to charitable organisations.
To make sure that the money actually gets to where it is needed, members are only allowed to donate to those environmental protection organisations that have been checked by the network and which now number over 3,000. In our first year here, we are at the very beginning of an exciting journey and can hardly wait to use our money to directly support environmental protection partners. In the coming months we will inform you more and more about our donations, so that you know what and whom you are supporting by buying 3Bears Porridge!
